Welcome to Australia

Australia is an amazing country for viticulture, with a rich history dating back to 1788 and is home to some of the oldest surviving vines in the world. From the stunningly beautiful, cool, region of Margaret River in WA to the rolling hills of Barossa Valley in SA, Australia has so much to offer, especially at the premium end of the market.

All of the major grape varieties are found in Australia and thrive in their own right, to give us a style that is ever-so New World. Recently, plantings of other international varietals, in particular Italian and Spanish, have seen a new movement to combat the effects of climate change and to get ahead of the curve. This highlights the Australian wine industry’s willingness to embrace change and not being afraid to experiment.

Exploring Australia

Australia is the sixth largest producer of wine in the world, with an annual output of 10 million hectolitres from 146,000 hectares of vine cover. As well as a large bulk wine industry, the premium sector is vital to the success and growth of Australian wine. This is the sector that we are focussed on, with wines that deliver on quality and consistency, as well as value.

Our experience with Australian producers and winemakers is a sense of genuine hospitality and generosity. They are so proud of the wines they make and are always so keen to share their story with us and show us the fruits of their labour.

Time after time the wines excel and we love exploring not only the wider regions, but also the multitude of sub-regions and what they can offer in terms of style. Considering the size of Australia, viticulture is concentrated in relatively small pockets of land, each with their own identity. We hope you enjoy exploring the 5 main areas, as we too continue to expand our reach.
