Trail 3150 Red Blend

An absolutely stunning Bordeaux-style blend, made in a style that is super-soft and extremely approachable. The wine is delicate and precise in detail, with distinct aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant, mocha notes and plenty of cassis. The palate opens beautifully to reveal multiple layers of complex black fruits. The structure is intense yet so well poised and the ever-so velvety tannins are the highlight to what is a truly delicious wine. We love the step away from the usual blockbuster style Napa Valley reds, and there is such complexity here to allow this wine to be consumed right now or for years to come.

Extra Notes

Producing just one wine is micro winery Trail 3150, an 8-acre vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. Trail 3150 is the dream of Catherine Vale. The daughter of a master brewer, Catherine was born and raised in London. Her husband, Travis, was born and raised in the Russian River Valley of California’s Sonoma Coast. He first worked a harvest in 1998, falling in love with the sights and sounds of a working winery. The two met in 2001 while both were travelling in New Zealand. Travis was furthering his education in the cooler climate growing regions of Marlborough. Catherine was finishing up a six-month tour of Southeast Asia and Australia.

Immediately drawn to each other, the two married in 2004 and made their home in the Napa Valley. Travis worked at a family-owned winery while Catherine accepted a position with drinks giant Diageo Chateau and Estates. In 2010 they struck out on their own journey of growing grapes and launching a new business. As their business grew, Catherine and Travis were able to purchase a home and 8-acre vineyard in the Oak Knoll District of Napa Valley. The vineyard is currently planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Merlot.
